Designing Your Family's Perfect Summer

Summer has a way of arriving all at once.
One day we're packing lunches, helping with homework, and watching the calendar fill up with school events. The next, the days are longer, the schedule is looser, and everyone seems to have a different idea of what would make the perfect summer.
What if the secret isn't finding one perfect plan?
What if it's letting everyone help design it?
A fun family activity is to gather around the kitchen table with a stack of sticky notes and ask a simple question:
"What would make this summer special for you?"
Give each family member their own color and encourage them to write down as many ideas as they can think of. Big ideas, small ideas, silly ideas—it all counts.
You might see things like:
❤️ Dad
- Backyard BBQ with friends
- Grow a vegetable garden
- Family bike ride
? Mom
- Picnic in the park
- Evening walks
- Outdoor movie night
? Teen
- Beach day
- Pool party
- Road trip playlist challenge
? Younger Child
- Catch fireflies
- Build a blanket fort
- Water balloon battle
When all the notes are on the wall, something magical happens. Everyone begins to see the summer through each other's eyes.
You may discover that the beach trip your teenager wants sounds fun to everyone. The garden project Dad suggested turns into a family activity. The water balloon battle becomes the highlight of the entire season.
The goal isn't to accomplish every idea. It's to create a summer that reflects the people sharing it.
Of course, all those adventures come with a little extra mess.
Gardens mean dirt under fingernails. Picnics mean grass stains. Beach days bring sand into places you didn't know sand could reach. Pets, kids, guests, and summer fun have a way of leaving their mark on the house.
That's okay.
A little extra cleaning is often evidence that life is being lived.
At Kleen Green, we believe the best homes aren't necessarily the spotless ones. They're the homes where memories are being made—where families gather, pets are part of the fun, and summer adventures leave behind stories worth telling.
So before summer slips away, grab some sticky notes and let everyone help design the season ahead.
You might just create your family's best summer yet.
